Sister Spit, the queer feminist spoken word and performance art collective, have hit the road again, making a stop on their tour in Williamsburg, Brooklyn tonight to bring their brand of queer poetry, spoken word, video, and art to the country. These multimedia events are always a ton of fun, with lively performances by author Michelle Tea, graphic novelist Elisha Lim, director Silas Howard, and more.
Sister Spit began in 1994, cofounded by Tea and poet Sini Anderson, traveling around the globe to showcase the work of queer artists and to broaden the voice of the LGBT community. Tea revived the tour in 2007, renaming is Sister Spit: the Next Generation, and it has been going strong ever since.
The event is hosted by Strength in Numbers booking collective, at 8pm at Secret Project Robot, 210 Kent Ave.
