16 Tweets Celebrating Nasty Women Everywhere

As usual, last night’s debate was a hot mess, but one particular moment of Trump’s stupidity had the Internet laughing and rolling their eyes. During a response to a question about Social Security of all things, Trump grew flustered at Hillary’s jab about his unpaid taxes and — rather than respond with some maturity — he decided to call his fellow presidential candidate a “nasty woman.”

Hillary Clinton supporters immediately took to Twitter to poke fun at the ridiculous insult. “Nasty woman” has since been reclaimed as a new, hilarious feminist rally cry. In honor of HRC and nasty women everywhere, we’ve compiled a list of 16 of our favorite Twitter responses to this presidential debate moment.

After the debate ended, the Internet continued to clap-back against Trump’s words. Apparel company Google Ghost also came out with special “Nasty Woman” t-shirts and sweatshirts. Each shirt retails for $25 and half of the proceeds go to PP.  Get ’em while you can. Hillary supporter Jeff Meltz took the initiative and purchased two domain names: nastywomengetshitdone.com (in honor of the famous SNL bit with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler) and makeamericanastyagain.com — both of which redirect to Hillary’s official website. Looks like Trump’s comment is already coming back to bite him.

All jokes aside, however, “nasty woman” is a comment that comes from a long history of sexism. Women are constantly told that they must behave in a certain way, be pleasing or likable and cater their behavior to male desires. This kind of comment, made purely out of spite, had no place in this debate and it’s a belittling thing to say to a woman who’s spent years fighting through the sexist muck of politics. Call her “nasty” if you want, but I’d rather elect a strong, capable candidate over a sexist, immature brat in a suit any day. Get ready because, on November 8th, nasty women all over the country will be casting their votes.
