IFC Premiere and Q&A For Documentary ‘I’m Carol Parker’

by Intern Ariana

IFC is on a roll. They just keep announcing exciting movie premieres and fun Q&A sessions with independent film’s greatest minds. This time, it’s director Jonathan Demme’s film festival veteran documentary: I’m Carolyn Parker: The Good, The Mad, and the Beautiful. The film will debut on September 13 at the NYC IFC Center followed by a Q&A with Demme.

I’m Carolyn Parker follows one New Orleans native in her journey to rebuild her home after Hurricane Katrina. Carolyn Parker was the last to leave her neighborhood during the mandatory evacuation and the first to return. It took Parker five years to remake her home and Demme twenty-one visits to capture the entire process. Demme said, “the film changed from a record of reclaiming her home into a documentary about a truly extraordinary woman.” Parker took part in the Civil Rights Movement and then later kept fighting to return to her home. She’s extraordinary indeed.
