These Feminist Underwear Brands Are All About Body Positivity & Yes Means Yes

by Madison N Nunes

Do you know what’s hotter than really good sex? Having really, really comfortable underwear that makes you feel super sexy.

These three feminist underwear brands are not only shrouded in comfort, but are also decked out with fem-friendly slogans, body positivity, and cute colors. Here’s a run down of each brand, our fave pieces, and where you can buy them (and if right now you’re wondering if you can pay rent, buy take out, and rock consent-friendly underwear all at the same time, we’re here to tell you that you can).

Neon Moon started out as a kick-starter project marketed as “a British feminist lingerie brand that’s empowering women in all phases of womanhood.” Hayat Rachi, CEO of Neon Moon, believes that “by taking time to support Neon Moon’s campaign, you are making a statement to the world that you want change, and your voice will be heard.” We couldn’t agree more, Hayat (btw, killer name). Not only is their underwear modeled by women with bodies that haven’t been retouched, but their undies are broke-girl savvy so the new brand can continue “to design and distribute nonconformist lingerie for women around the world.” Right now you can get yo’self some Neon Moon skivvies by backing them.

This isn’t the first time we’ve gushed over Dear Kate, a conscious lingerie brand that was a first responder to the Victoria Secret’s “Perfect Body” campaign. Now they’ve come out with a line of sports-wear underthings inspired by strong females. They have four new designs featuring darling decals of familiar female idols Amelia Earhart, Harriet Tubman, Marie Curie, and Frida Kahlo. Although Dear Kate is a bit pricey (less here at League of Ladies), you might want to considering buying yourself a pair the next time you go on a panty-buying spree. These pieces are way more promising when you consider who you’re supporting and how much bang you’ll get for your buck—especially as a contender to new heels.

“Let’s shift our culture from sexually objectifying women to encouraging communication and consent,” says Feminist Style, previously crowd funded on Kickstarter. The brand believes that their products are the much needed alternatives to underwear that isn’t necessarily so feminist, i.e. Victoria’s Secret. Clothing you wear over your va-jay-jay shouldn’t say “ready for anything,” guys, and this lingerie company is making underthings that say, “talk to me” or “#askfirst” instead. As an extra special touch, their tags give washing directions as well as a helpful reminder that sexual assault is never the fault of the victim. We’re in love.
