Whether it’s witchcraft or bitchcraft, when it comes to television and film anything involving wizardry and badass ladies is completely up my alley – however many of these characters come in Sabrina Spellman blonde-hair-blue-eyed packages.
Not to hate on the Sabrinas, Madison Montgomerys, or Hermione Grangers of the world, but I think it’s time we make some room for some WOC witches to tear shit up, because I mean, seriously, where would we be without Tituba or Madame Zironi?
MisSpelled is a soon-to-come Youtube webseries that will tell the story of when “murder, mystery and magic collide for a coven of clueless witches”.
The trailer shows five strong female leads with fully formed characters that don’t fit into some cliché mold. They are all different sizes, played by WOC with great acting chops, who are going to create a magical online series that does wonders for representation within the Youtube world.
