In the comic series, We Will Bury You, brother and sister duo, Brea Grant (of Heroes fame) and Zane Austin Grant, rewrite history and turn the roaring 20’s into the beginning of the zombie apocalypse. Zane describes it as “a feminist horror narrative following two queer women trying to survive the zombie outbreak.” The two heroines are Mirah, an anarchist escort, and Fanya, a thief. The story begins with a headline about Sacco and Vanzetti, anarchists falsely convicted and put to death, setting a political tone. It continues with a conversation between Mirah and a man named Henry. Mirah listens to Henry spew misogynist rhetoric, while Mirah combats him with snarky remarks that Henry barely understands are pays attention to. As the story, which is set in Coney Island, continues, Fanya and Mirah argue while discovering that most of the people in the city have turned into zombies, which may have been caused by the deaths of Sacco and Vanzetti. Fanya and Mirah fight and make up while using their unorthodox skills to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Aside from continuing the We Will Bury You series, the brother-sister duo have also worked on musical projects (an album all about zombies actually) and writing a comic for The Suicide Girls.
