In Anticipation of Earth Day, Shop Sustainably and Eat Locally at Soho Event!

The BUST Magazine Craftacular & Food Fair is Eco-Friendly Fun

New York, NY (April 14, 2012) -This year, the BUST Magazine Craftacular & Food Fair returns to its SoHo location to kick start Earth Day celebrations with its highly anticipated and award-winning semi-annual event. Visitors can shop alongside enthusiastically eco-friendly movers, shakers, and makers, and eat like locavores, all while supporting independent artisans who are changing the way the world thinks about sustainable goods. Whether they’re showing their appreciation for Mother Earth, picking up a gift for their other mother in time for Mother’s Day in May, or treating themselves to some high-quality handcrafted items, visitors can feel good about their shopping experience. This one-day-only craft and food extravaganza will take place in the heart of SoHo at 82 Mercer Street on Saturday, April 14, from 11am-7pm.

Over 100 vendors and an expected 3,000+ guests will mix, mingle, shop, and snack in a modern, spacious venue, all while enjoying sweet music from DJs and a live set by Twin Peaks-obsessed electronic duo Silent Drape Runners. This year’s event is bigger and better than ever before, featuring an expanded food area with more options for guests to satisfy their culinary cravings. DIY devotees will get a spring in their steps with coveted raffle prizes, complimentary organic juice from sponsor Red Jacket Orchards, and reusable tote bags filled with swag for the first 300 people through the door. Entry is $3, which includes a free raffle ticket.

Come out and play with:

  • Handcrafted Goodies for Do-Gooders! The BUST Magazine Craftacular & Food Fair will showcase hand-picked vendors who will bring the most unique indie shopping experience to New Yorkers. There will be an eclectic mix of handmade jewelry, home goods, stationery, clothes, and toys found at the event-truly something for everyone. See how upscale upcycling can be with retro-repurposed hand-bound books from Another Work in Progress; put your dollars toward a good cause with cute and environmentally-conscious apparel and accessories from Bugsella; enjoy 100% natural bath and body products from The Filthy Farmgirl and vegan and cruelty-free cosmetics from The Elixery; along with unique products from many other talented artisans.

  • Community-centric Cuisine: Shopping works up an appetite! Whether guests want to grab a gourmet bite to go or sit down and relax with a cold craft beer, food vendors will deliver what the rumbling stomach desires. There will be plenty of tasty local talent to sample, including fair-trade coffee from Java Love Coffee Roasting Co., sweet hand-crafted treats from The Chocolate Swirl, and fresh-made tacos and burritos from Dos Toros. Vegetarian options and kid-friendly cuisine abound, and trying new things is always encouraged. Since no food fair is complete without some meals on wheels, the ever-popular Coolhaus NY ice cream truck and mobile vegan eatery Cinnamon Snail will park just outside the venue.

Sponsors for the BUST Magazine Craftacular & Food Fair include: Mail Chimp, Red Jacket Orchards, The Yarn Company, EvoFem, Blue Q, and The Lower Eastside Girls Club.

The BUST Magazine Craftacular has won the prestigious Gold FAME Award for Best Special Event as well as the FOLIO Grand FAME Award for BEST OVERALL EVENT, beating out “O,” “Glamour,” and “Cosmopolitan”.
