New Inspiration: Artist Korin Faught

by Intern Candice

“Counting Reflections”

It’s no longer Monday, so I no longer want to hide under my covers and completely ignore the rays of sunlight piercing through my windows and poking at my eyelids. No way! I want to get up, get at ’em, fall into that catchy phrase “rise and grind,” and get the body and brain waves moving. But, since I’m me, it takes much more than a shower and a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch to get me motivated. I’m always looking for inspiration, and when I find something awesome I have to share it!

Like the work of Korin Faught (even her name is cool), a painter I discovered while perusing through the Arrested Motion blog. I love her eerie figures, stark colors, and brush strokes. The paintings in this post are from her new body of work, “Voices of the Lake,” which you can see in person at the Corey Helford Gallery in Culver City, CA next Saturday night (September 3) at 7pm. So if you’re in the area, don’t miss it!
