Prove You Didn’t Forget Mother’s Day AGAIN This Year With A Thoughtful Gift

by Meghan Sara

Mother’s Day is right around the corner — which means it’s officially LAST MINUTE gift-gettin’ time!  Okay, so maybe you almost forgot… again…  So save yourself with a totally bomb-ass gift.  Y’know, a gift that shows how thoughtful you are, how much you appreciate mom, and what a good job she did raising you into an undeniably functional adult who would never forget Mother’s Day (for the 31st year in a row)!

Oh by the way, if you’re lucky enough to be in L.A. this weekend, all of these vendors will be at the BUST Craftacular Spring! in L.A. this Saturday!  Get your tickets, get your Mother’s Day gift sorted a whole day in advance (look at YOU), and then pet some friggin’ kittens because you’re basically the best kid a mom could ask for!

Banter & Bliss Candle Co. Clean Linen

Mom taught you how to do your own laundry (was it taught, or was it more of an ultimatum thing?), and she does love a good scented candle.  Tell your mom, “Thanks for showing me how to take care of myself!” with a fragrant soy candle in a Clean Linen scent from Banter & Bliss Candle Co.  And then continue to turn up at her house with suitcases full of dirty laundry to wash every time you visit — mom also appreciates helping you save money on the laundromat.  She told me so.

Farradas Knits

You know how mom is always telling you to “go put on a sweater”?  Turn the tables on her this Mother’s Day by giving her a one-of-a-kind, made-to-order sweater from Farradas Knits!  Why does mom make you put on a sweater just because she’s cold?  Is it a “mom thing”?  These colorful couture knit pieces are pretty tempting, hey, might just feel a chill coming on…

Ten Thousand Waves Yoga Bag by House of Lovers

Mom always taught you not to be creative and not waste things, so this yoga bag by House of Lovers is made from reused kimono and obi fabrics sourced from the flea markets of Kyoto, Japan!  Support mom’s new yoga obsession and her devotion to reusing things — just don’t be surprised when she folds up the wrapping paper neatly to “use on something else.”  Oh, mom.

Mini Glow Sample Pack copy

Remember when you were just starting to experiment with makeup, and your mother yelled at you to “wash your face before you leave this house!”  Show her you haven’t forgotten by giving her a taste of M. Steve’s luxury skincare line with this Mini Glow Sample Pack, complete with Purifying Cleanser, Multi-Benefit Moisturizer, Ultra-Nourishing Boost, and Reviving Exfoliator.

My Booklandia book planter

Mom’s favorite book is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, but she already has a copy!  So what do you do?  Give her a way to grow a tree (or smaller plant) inside a book!  My mom was a librarian (is she reading this?  Uh — the card is in the mail!), so she would totally DIG this book planter by My Booklandia.  She’s also freakishly good at keeping plants alive.  Not so much goldfish, though.  (Note: my mother has given me express permission to make fun of her on the Internet because she trolls my blog.  Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!)

Rebel Nell brass post earrings

Ultimately, our mom raise us to be independent women, teach us to support our fellow females, and to be creative with what we have been given, amirite?  Rebel Nell out of Detroit, Michigan is a jewelry company that employs disadvantaged women, teaching them how to operate small business, then empowering them to go out in the world and make their mark — like a momma bird teaching a baby bird to fly!  Mom metaphors aside, these brass post earrings are made out of actual graffiti (which is so cool), so they are ever-so-subtly funky and a little bit punk!

Any of these gifts would make your mom squirt happy tears, but there’s nothing better than Q.T. — Quality Time!  Take your mom on a lady-date to the BUST Craftacular and get her a makeover, make some crafts, have lunch together, you know, all that stuff moms like.  Don’t forget Mother’s Day this Sunday and the BUST Craftacular in L.A. this Saturday!
