Jessica McCabe Provides Accessible Resources On ADHD To The Neurodivergent Community

by Aliza  Pelto

“I didn’t know how to do anything but apologize a lot and try harder,” explains Jessica McCabe of living with ADHD (Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder). So, in 2016, the actor, writer, and activist began creating content across social media aimed at providing those who share her diagnosis a toolbox of techniques to accommodate their neurodifferences. From crash course videos on definitions, to relatable, 30-second clips on everyday problems, McCabe has been making information and resources on ADHD accessible in a society whose user’s manual was constructed for neurotypical brains.

Today, “How to ADHD” has over 1 million subscribers on YouTube and a thriving online community.McCabe is even penning a book based on her experiences. And it isn’t only her followers who have benefited from her work. Six years after launching her brand, she says, “I am able to appreciate myself for my strengths and uniqueness in away I couldn’t before.”
