If you REALLY love books…

by Intern Sarah

I love books. A lot. I have a book in my purse at all times (last month it was The Small Room by May Sarton, right now it’s The Russian Dreambook of Color and Flight by Gina Ochsner—next up will be Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger) and spend many of my lunch breaks browsing at Barnes & Noble. For part of our summer holiday, my college roommate and I went to the little town of Hay-on-Wye, Wales, which makes its living off bookshops; there are about two dozen of them there. (That’s when you know you’re a book lover, by the way.) Long story short, I love being surrounded by books.

If you do too, I’ve got the tumblr for you. Bookshelf Porn is a site dedicated to—what else?—photos of bookshelves and bookshops. From bookshelves with huge quantities of books to strangely designed or decorated bookshelves, this site has it all. And it’s so easy to get sucked in. The images of rows and rows of books are hypnotizing! Here are just a few of my favorites:

Because of course, if your bookshelves are high enough that you need steps to reach all of them, you should use the stairs to house yet more books.

The same is true if your house itself needs stairs. God forbid you waste any amount of space that could be used for book storage.

There is no rule that says your books have to be neatly stacked.

Or that your shelves have to be totally linear.

And if you simply can’t afford bookshelves, just pile them on the floor!

What are you all reading right now?
