Exploring Feminism in NYC

by Janelle

I am not a good enough feminist. This may be a thought that has crossed your mind at some point in your life. But what does it mean to be a good feminist?  And what does it mean to be a feminist at all? Concrete Utopia invites us to explore the meaning of feminism through an art exhibition that will showcase the works of 23 interdisciplinary artists. Through the experiences of artists, writers, activists, and intellectuals- the investigation of feminism will be on display from May 7th until May 30th  in New York City.

Titled “i am not a good feminist.” contributors will reflect on the social anxieties surrounding feminism, as well as, investigate the need for it today in hopes of moving feminism forward. It is co-curated by Melanie Kress and Kate Ryan and showcases installations, paintings, videos, and sculptures. So, in order to be a good feminist, you should definitely check out this exhibit when it opens in May. This is such an awesome way to see how feminism has evolved and where it is going– and I would imagine there will be some really cool art there too!
