I like Classical Art…and I also like voluptuous ginger cats. I’m sure I’m not the only one. Russian artist Svetlana Petrova probably heard the art world (and me) cry for more cat-tastic representation. Our “we need moar catz!@$!” vibes were heard! Petrova has a website that we can waste away hours on appropriately named FatCatArt.
Petrova photoshops her big cat, Zarathustra, into classics like Hokusai’s Great Wave off Kanagawa and Wood’s American Gothic. I think Wood’s ascetic painting looks more cheerful with Zarathustra, no?
Petrova claims Zarathustra is a natural artist and model and their work is being featured at the Stonehouse Mill in England right now in an exhibition titled, “From Icons to I-Cats”. I would bet more people would flood museums if it meant we got to see Zarathustra embedded in our favorite works!
