India’s Supreme Court Upheld Death Penalty In Gang Rape Case
Following a gang rape/murder on a New Dehli bus in 2012, activists across India demanded stronger anti-rape laws, and the Supreme Court decided on the death penalty for the rapists. Now, the Supreme Court has decided to uphold the death penalty judgment. However, Supreme Court lawyer Vrinda Grover is concerned that the death penalty given to the rapists will not act as a deterrent to reduce rape, but rather will allow the government to absolve themselves of the responsibility to keep women safe. NYPD Covered Up Sexual Harassment In The Workplace
After speaking out about being sexually harassed by a lieutenant, Jasmia Inserillo was forced to lose a month of pay and to enter a three-month outpatient rehab program, even though she had no record of alcoholism. Remaining Charges Dropped On Trump Inauguration Protesters
More than 200 people were arrested at inauguration protests in 2016. Federal prosecutors have moved to drop the remaining 38 charges due to the results of the other trials, and the discovery that prosecutors had withheld evidence which would have been favorable to the protesters.
