Looking for interesting food related fun? Look no further than Something I Ate, a collaborative food and art project hosted and curated by one of the amazing gals in this month’s food issue, Sam Kim, founder of Skimkim foods and Kat Popiel of On Plate, Still Hungry. This Friday in Brooklyn gallery, Rouge58, several artists will showcase their seven-day documentation of personal eating experiences culminating in works using any kind of media they prefer from photo or paint to fashion or film. All in the name of creative food exploration.
Participating artists include: Alessandro Simonetti, Kareem Black, Slutlust, Gastronomista, Phil Knott, Briana Heard, Edgartista, Jason McKoy (Shadowplastic), Michael Greenberg, Aerosyn Lex, Jesse Untract-Oakner and Brian Hubble. Special guests and renowned food architects, Bompas & Parr, will be creating a surprise site-specific installation in the backyard of Rouge 58.
After the final submissions, each artist will pinpoint a a defining foodie moment from a meal, ingredient or experience and Sam Kim will present her seasonal, local interpretation.
Oh yeah and did I mention there will be fabulous cocktails? There’s the Kanon Vodka “Greatfruit” which is a grapefruit yuzu concoction and then there will be root beer floats featuring the new Root liquor, from the guys who gave us Hendrick’s Gin and ice cream from Sweet Deliverance!
