Alex Guarnaschelli is The Best Lady Chef On TV

by Andrea Stopa

If you don’t know Alex Guarnaschelli, or you do but never knew that was how to spell her name, let’s take a minute to appreciate this deeply passionate foodie. Guarnaschelli is (in my humble and totally love-struck opinion) the greatest lady chef on food television, and believe me, I have watched a lot of food television.

Just watch this video:

She talks about food like none other. Seriously, every time she opens her mouth about food she is writing a beautiful poetic verse in honor of flavor.

Guarnaschelli is not just adorable, she is the world-renowned executive chef of Butter and Darby’s, two top-notch NYC restaurants. Her mother was a cookbook editor, which is probably responsible for gifting her with such a spot-on, whimsical food vocabulary, for which we are all kinds of grateful.

Look how cute and funny she is!:

All she wants to do is talk about food, because it’s her life:

Guarnaschelli is often the only woman on judging panels, and totally holds it down. She recently won the Food Network The Next Iron Chef competition, and if you watch cooking competition shows, you will notice that when a woman wins it’s a cause for celebration because the ratio is so tilted towards guys, it feels good to defeat the boys club for just one round. She is actually the only woman currently titled an Iron Chef, and only the second woman to ever hold the title. See what I mean?

Did I mention she’s funny? She is also a great teacher, and crowd pleaser. Look at how she mastered cooking with one hand, and wooing an audience via the microphone in the other!:

Also, she really loves sandwiches:

If you don’t love her a little bit by now, your heart must be cold and shriveled. My girl crush for her is pretty extreme. Catch her as a judge on Chopped or on her show Alex’s Day Off on Food Network or The Cooking Chanel. I should also mention that her recipes are off the charts so you should probably give them a try.
