A Female Dalai Lama Would Have To Be Hot, Says The Dalai Lama

by Olivia Harrison

So here’s the good news: the Dalai Lama is a self-proclaimed feminist and said he’d totally support a female successor. This we already knew. The bad news though is that he has very a specific qualification for his successor if she’s a female. In a recent interview with the BBC, the Dalai Lama said her “face should be very attractive, otherwise not much use.”

D-Lam started off more positively in the interview saying, “The female biologically [has] more potential to show affection and compassion.” Unfortunately, he pretty much crashed and burned after implying that a woman isn’t worth much unless she’s got a pretty face. And the giant smile on his face when he relayed the message to his interviewer only added insult to injury.

There was more to the interview than just some sexism, so take a look below.
