5 Feminist Stories You Might Have Missed This Week

by Ada Guzman

Happy Friday, BUSTies! We unfortunately have no riveting “snowstorm” stories to tell this week. Thankfully, we did find a bit more to talk about beyond Super Bowl Sunday. Here are five feminist stories you may have missed this week:

  • One badass artist is shining a light on lady models of every size. We get some major body positivity vibes from female photographer Sophie Spinelle, who empowers women through her company, Shameless Photography. Read our interview here.
  • Did you miss the Super Bowl too? Don’t worry, the IRL inspiration behind Portlandia’s Women & Women First has got you covered. Hilarious hashtags and feminist analytics abound. More here.
  • Thanks to Photographer Audra Mulkern, the image of the female farmer is finally getting some recognition. Mulkern is taking down agricultural stereotypes in this awesome new project. Read our profile here.
  • It’s high time for Hollywood to stop perpetuating ridiculous standards—and not just the ones having to do with beauty. Sex scenes depicting how women orgasm are usually totally off-track. Let’s start representing sexual pleasure in realistic ways, shall we? Read more here.
  • This woman is fighting the good fight against the exploitative phenomenon known as revenge porn by claiming her body as her own. Read more here.
