Nude Heels: Now For Actual Human Skin Tones

by Katie Fustich

Ever notice how all “nude” heels are really just the same ambiguous tone that somehow complements only Christina Aguilera’s spray-tan? Fortunately, for we lesser beings, legendary designer Christian Louboutin is about to change that. The shoe-guru is launching the “Nudes” collection, featuring five of his most famous designs in five shades that range from a dainty petal to a rich coffee.

“They disappear like magic and become a fluid extension of her legs, as in a sketch, elongating the silhouette,” said the designer. While I am indeed stoked to look smokin’ hot, I am even more stoked my “nude” heels will actually be nude! My yellow-hued body does not belong in peach-hued shoe–a fact one can only fully realize while un-tagging horrifying candid photos on Facebook…

Louboutin has taken the guesswork out of choosing between the five colors: Louboutin Shades, a new app, enables the user to photograph their skin-tone and have it matched with the perfect pair. And yes, you should totally mess with this by taking pictures of your dog’s feet.

The collection will be available exclusively in Christian Louboutin boutiques this month. But who am I kidding? If you’re like every other non-Kardashian on the planet and don’t have the dough for such an expedition, never fear! In the event of a fashion vs. rent struggle, I always turn to Meryl Streep’s monologue in The Devil Wears Prada about the trickle-down effect in the fashion world. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that Zara (or the Dollar Tree…) is taking notes!
