Tina Fey: My Daughter Wants To Kill Me

by Brenda Pitt

When celebrities discuss their children, their voice often takes on an otherworldly, dazed quality: “Oh yes, he’s the light of my life. Motherhood… is transformative.” And while that’s the beautiful and honest experience of many mothers, we may also long to hear stars discuss the more terrifying, humbling aspects of parenting.

Well, Tina Fey has us covered. In a hilarious interview with David Letterman, the comedian explains that she suspects her youngest daughter might be a sociopath. Of course she’s joking, but when I think about my younger siblings and cousins and their childhood mischief, she strikes a poignant chord, making her comments all the more amusing.

She describes her kids this way: “They’re not strong enough to kill you, and they want to kill you so bad.” And don’t we all go through that phase before we understand and learn our own limits and power? Tina, I wouldn’t worry; she sounds perfectly normal.
