The Google Book: A Tangible Pictionary

by Intern Grace Wielebinski

Sure, we’ve had our ups and downs, but I can honestly say that (for better or worse) Google may very well know me better than anyone else. It’s been there for me through thick and thin, and even though it’s not perfect, I have to admit that it still has a very special place in my heart. On the other hand, even though I can honestly count the number of times that I actually dusted off one of the old hard-copy Encyclopedias in my high school’s library on one hand, there’s something very sad about knowing that tangible print books are fast becoming obsolete for a lot of people. However, thanks to Felix Heyes and Ben West, I just may be able to have my Google cake- and hold it too! The two artists teamed up to create a “Google Book” that chronicles the first Google image result for every word in the dictionary, and the results are pretty incredible.
