Join the good fight with Occupy the Boardroom…

by Intern Courtnay

Did the economic collapse affect your life like so many others? Do you want to give Wall Street a piece of your mind? You are in luck! Along with the Occupy Wall Street movement progressive groups are launching an online collaborative to get people’s stories and voices out there about how the bank bailouts affected real people. If you have a story about it and you want to share this is your sounding board. Occupy the Boardroom’s mission is to hold the big banks accountable for their part in the collapse.

The website is collecting people’s stories and experiences about the economic mess and flooding the inboxes of the big banks’ heads to let them know what they did. 99% of people do not have the wealth that these massive companies like Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase profited from. Occupy Wall Street has allowed citizens to stand up and show the banks what they have done and with Occupy the Boardroom you can do the same, in your own words.

You have two choices on the website. You may become pen pals or best friends forever with the Wall Street elites. How fun 🙂 In the Pen Pal section you click on a “pal” and tell them your story. Did your parents get evicted from their house? Is your best friend jobless for months and counting? Let them know! If being pen pals is not enough and you crave a real connection get creative. In the BFF portion you click a banker, read the listed instructions and let your new bff know how you really feel. Be creative, dazzle them with your wit and ingenius thoughts. The best, funniest and most revealing project wins a prize. You have many pals to pick from like execs from City Group, Morgan Stanley, or Wells Fargo so don’t be shy.

The media might not be listening but the hopes of the movement is that with enough voices we can speak loudly and truthfully enough so someone will have to. Many organizations like Student Labor Action Project, Alliance for a Greater New York, Rainforest Action Justice, Alliance for a Just Society and more have joined the fight. Now it’s your turn. Be the change you wish to see….
