These women might seem like they’re straight from a WWII pin-up calendar, but they’re so much more than that. The veterans have visited over 10,000 ill and injured soldiers at their bedside in both hospitals and homes across 31 states in the US.
From the money they’ve raised from their annual calendars, they’ve been able to donate over $50,000 for state-of-the-art rehab equipment that they’ve given to hospitals around the world.
“We also ship morale-boosting care packages to our troops deployed around the globe, do fun pin-up makeovers for female Vets and military wives, and we work with homeless Veteran shelters putting on events and donating gifts and clothes,” said Gina Elise, founder of Pin-Ups For Vets, in an email.
The Chief of Volunteer Services at the Oklahoma Hospital VA writes, “The impact of the time you took to providing a smile, good conversation, and most importantly, the recognition to our valuable veterans is not expressible by mere words. Your visit was simply the best visit I have been a part of since my beginning as Voluntary Services Chief.”
