Little Girls Dress Up As The Women Who Inspired Us This Year – And It’s Glorious

by Olivia Harrison

I always look forward to the end of the year because everyone starts putting out their “Year in Review” posts. I love reading lists of the best and worst of the year whether it be on TV, music, books, movies, or news, and don’t get me started on the videos that revisit pop culture moments. It’s so fun to explore parts of the year that we have long forgotten, and it can even be kind of hilarious to revisit moments we wish we could forget. It’s only mid-December, but I’ve already read my fair share of 2015 recaps, and there’s a lot of good ones out there. As evidenced by the first 100 words of this post, I am an expert of year in review pieces, so you can trust me when I say I have found what is surely the best 2015 recap.

FF Girls 2015

It’s called “Fast Forward Girls 2015,” and it was made by the people over at GoldieBlox (so you know it’s going to be feminist and awesome and not to mention adorably life-affirming). In the video, young girls dress up as some awesome 2015 heroines and show off their talents all while a remake of “Worth It” by the young and talented Sophie Grace plays in the background. The video description reads, “In 2015, these ten women in politics, entertainment, sport, and STEM are the leading ladies that we all hope to grow up to be, proving that anything – and we mean anything – is possible.”

Emmy Winner

The video is certainly inspiring, but what strikes me most is how hopeful it makes me feel. 2015 has been an incredible year for women, and the number of fierce female role models we have right now in all types of feilds is astounding. The ending line of the video sums up all my feels about this year for the ladies: “From running the field to running the world, girl power 2015. There is nothing we cannot accomplish as girls.”

It’s easy to start feeling down this time of year, but this video will surely lift your spirits and make you feel incredibly hopeful about the year to come. Enjoy!
