This Sexist Award Show Parody Is Everything We’ve Been Missing

by Katherine Barner

Get ready to laugh, The Golden Probes are coming, and no, that is not a typo.

The satirical awards show, for the first time ever, will be lead by comedy goddesses Sarah Silverman, Samantha Bee and Broad City’s Abbi Jacobson and Ilana Glazer. This will be a laugh-filled evening, recognizing  “outstanding achievements in the fields of sexism and anti-abortion extremism” in politics, media and other industries. Nonprofit organization Lady Parts Justice, “a cabal of comics and writers exposing creeps hellbent on destroying access to birth control and abortion,” will be presenting the event at Le Poisson Rouge in New York City on October 2nd. The event will be streamed on their website.

Formal nominees have not yet been announced because, as Jacobson and Glazer so eloquently said, “each day, a new performance of epic douchebaggery emerges.” The categories include: “Best Acting Like You Care About Women in a Non-Supportive Role,” “Best Original Science,” “Best Adaptation of Reality in an Elected or Non-Elected Role,” “Outstanding Performance in an Unscripted Outburst,” “Best Newcomer and/or Breakthrough Performance,” “Outstanding Writing Using Sharpie, Hobby Lobby Supplies and/or Microsoft Paint,” “Outstanding Underachievement By a Legislator in a Leading Role,” and “Legislature of the Year.”

Appearances by more of our favorite feminists will include Matt McGorry, Wendy Davis, Lea Delaria, Sasheer Zamata, Phoebe Robinson, Lizz Winstead, Jessica Williams, and will be hosted by hip hop artist and comedian Jean Grae. The ultimate goal of the event is to raise voter awareness about the politicians and policymakers who are aiming to wear down access to reproductive health care before the polls open in November.

It really couldn’t get much better than that.
