Who lives, who dies, who tells your story...

That’s right: Aubrey Plaza and Alia Shawkat are starring in a new version of Hamilton. And they’re not playing Angelica and Eliza Schuyler — they’re playing Hamilton and Burr. We’ll hold for your screams.
Hamilton fans may already be aware that earlier this summer, Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda announced that he’d be hosting an episode of Comedy Central’s Drunk History. If you’ve never seen Drunk History before, please remedy that now: Each episode features an expert on a certain period of history getting blackout drunk and narrating a slurred and excitable version of that history, which Comedy Central then adapts with famous actors. Here’s Winona Ryder, Michael Cera and Nick Offerman acting out the drunk version of the story of Quaker martyr Mary Dyer:
Anyway, back to drunk Hamilton. (Let’s have another round tonight...) Last week, Comedy Central announced to Entertainment Weekly that Aubrey Plaza will play Burr and Alia Shawkat will play Hamilton in the drunk-Lin-Manuel narrated episode. Bonus: Tony Hale, aka Buster Bluth of Arrested Development, will play James Monroe.
Alia told Entertainment Weekly that she got the job shortly after seeing the show and becoming obsessed with the soundtrack.
“It felt so meant to be,” she said. “Hamilton was just everywhere in my life. I even sent a picture to my friend who took me to the show, like ‘So now I am Hamilton, that’s what’s happened.’”
She also detailed how drunk Hamilton will be different from Broadway Hamilton: "Lin knows the history backwards and forwards. He used [Drunk History] to tell different specifics of the story, so it’s not like we’re watching the same stuff. He told the specifics of personal fights they got in and other stuff that still ties into the overall story of Hamilton, but stuff I didn’t know.”
Drunk History’s version of Hamilton will air on November 29. We’re willing to wait for it....
