The Sunshine State Goes Full Surveillance State
Florida’s governor Ronnie Detritus is PISSED and waging a campaign of harassment, sending POLICE to interrogate people who dared sign the petition to get a pro-abortion amendment on their ballot this November. (GOOD NEWS! It’s on there!)
They want you to think Democracy is now “voter fraud” (eye roll), but it’s clearly an OBVIOUS attempt to subvert the will of the people through fear.
Actually, barging into Florida homes and accusing folks of voter fraud seems to be his kink…
Guess “Send it back to the states,” means “Let the states use whatever authoritarian schemes they can to intimidate people out of voting.” But Ronnie’s tiny-hands-macho-man-tactics haven’t stopped our friends at Floridians Protecting Freedom from putting in the work to expand abortion access in Florida. All Jokes Aside, The Reason Why We Fight Is The Very Real Human Cost Of Abortion Bans
ProPublica released devastating pieces this week that detail two deaths that were directly caused by a Georgia abortion ban that made performing a D and C a felony, with few exceptions.
Amber Nicole Thurman and Candi Miller: Say Their Names
Both women are dead because of Georgia’s vague AF ban. Amber died when a Georgia hospital wouldn’t give her a D and C, a simple procedure sometimes used to help empty a uterus when abortion pills don’t completely expel a pregnancy.
Candi died because she was experiencing complications from abortion pills, and was too afraid of the criminal prosecution associated with getting a D and C, so she suffered at home and died without seeking care.
But let’s be clear ABORTION PILLS ARE HELLA SAFE, as is a D and C.
It’s not the pills, it’s the bans against the treatment for simple complications that killed these women.
These vague and punative laws created situations where both patients and doctors are terrified to provide care or seek care, and the result in these cases was death.
We must stand up for Amber, Candi and everyone who has suffered under these laws. We cannot let this happen in any more states.
