Where They At: NOLA Bounce & Hip-Hop in Words & Pictures

by Krista Ciminera

We covered New Orleans’ “sissy bounce” rappers in our latest issue, so we were extra excited to see a new art show in New Orleans called “Where They At: Bounce and Hip-Hop in Words and Pictures,” opening April 22nd.

Photographer Aubrey Edwards and journalist Alison Fensterstock have compiled a multi-media exhibition that features many members of the New Orleans bounce community, spanning from the 1980s to present day.  Featuring footage of live performances, as well as tapes, posters, lps, and photos, the exhibit serves as the only resource of its kind in hip-hop research.

Check out the story behind the regional rap scene at 925 Camp Street at the Ogden Museum of Southern Art, from 6 to 8pm.
