Welcome to the ladysphere, Broadly!

by Hanna Lustig

VICE has grown exponentially from its early punk magazine years, giving rise to niche, off-shoot websites like Noisey (for music fiends!), Vice News (for those who care about current events and global issues but hate the stuffiness of traditional outlets) and Motherboard (for lovers of tech and geekery!).

But this week, VICE readers will notice a newcomer to the lineup: Broadly, a lady-centric news source for “women who know their place.” One word: YAAAASSS.

Spearheaded by former BUST editor and Jezebel contributor Tracie Egan Morrissey (whose Internet presence you can enjoy here), Broadly formally launches August 3 and will include both written pieces and documentary videos exploring topics such as sex, politics, culture, and witchcraft (one of our favorite subjects, too). While the website itself is still under wraps, Broadly released a trailer to appease us in the meantime.

The trailer highlights choice scenes from Broadly’s forthcoming videos, like snippets of an all-female village in Kenya, a female biker gang from New Orleans (who also appeared in our June/July 2015 issue), a coven of witches in Brooklyn, a penis parade in Kawasaki, sex workers in Spain, Virginie Despentes discussing rape, and poetic BUST-y Amber Tamblyn flirting with her dad. We’re particularly excited for the video in which one intrepid reporter spends a day at the shooting range with Ann Coulter.

By the looks of it, Broadly is going to be catnip for feminists. And we can’t wait to get our fix.
