Trees Not Trash Teach Guerilla Gardening

by Web Intern

Trees Not Trash is a guerilla gardening group in Bushwick, Brooklyn. It started when founder Kate Gilliam noticed a lack of green space in her neighborhood. East Williamsburg and Bushwick are former industrial areas that have become increasingly residential. TNT has turned empty lots around Brooklyn into gardens and public green spaces. Currently they are working with the NYC Parks Department and the Million Trees NYC Initiative as well as operating the Trees Not Trash community garden on Bogart Street.

TNT will be at the BUST Spring Fling Craftacular this weekend. They will be giving lessons on guerilla gardening and making seed bombs, so be sure and come check them out!

The BUST Spring Fling Craftacular is Sunday, May 17 from noon to 7 pm at the Warsaw (261 Driggs Ave) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. -Liza
