In case actually going to high school every day wasn’t painful enough, one freshman has cruel taunting permanently printed in her yearbook.
In a collage on one page, there is a photo in which the words ”fat ass” are written right below Marie Gray’s name. She’s not alone, someone wrote ”faggot” under another student’s name.
When Marie complained to the yearbook advisor she was told nothing could be done. The girl’s mother said nobody at the school was returning their calls. But apparently they are printing labels to cover the picture (or so they told the news), which will rip the page if removed. The yearbook club also apologized:
On behalf of the 2008-2009 yearbook class and Tonopah Valley High School we would like to sincerely apologize for the inappropriate and rude language of the freshman class. It’s our mistake and we should have caught this one before the yearbook was published and handed out. The comment should not have been written in the first place and we apologize for the immaturity of whoever wrote it. We would greatly appreciate your forgiveness, as we are terribly sorry.
The yearbook advisor was placed on leave.
This was either a cruel joke or a gross oversight. Either way, it’s a problem. Short of going back in time and not printing the picture, what do you, oh BUSTies, think the solution should be? -Liza
