‘The Heretics’ is Coming!

by Web Intern

Well, if you’re in NYC, anyway. If you’re in the area, love art, and have an interest in feminist history, you should check out The Heretics at MoMA, which starts screening this gem on Friday and runs until the following Thursday (so Oct. 9-15).

The Heretics is a documentary that reveals the history of Heresies, a feminist art collective that populated lower Manhattan during the 1970s, just in time to play a pivotal role in the Second Wave of the Women’s Movement. Director Joan Braderman joined the group in 1971 and charts the tale for the first time ever with intimate interviews with former members, digital motion graphics, archival footage from that crazy time, and documents the collective put out (such as the journal HERESIES: A Feminist Publication on Art and Politics).

If you’re interested, be sure to check out the website for screening info. See you at MoMA!
