New Patty Chang Exhibit In NYC

by Web Intern

Performance/video artist Patty Chang, who once recreated a Bruce Lee fight scene and portrayed a Chinese contortionist, has a new exhibition in New York.
The main video of her exhibit is ”The Product Love,” which tells the story of the real-life meeting of Chinese-American actress Anna May Wong and German critic Walter Benjamin. The two met when Benjamin was interviewing Wong, who had escaped to Germany to avoid the racist typecasting of American film. Chang’s video recreates their meeting as an erotic scene and attempts to translate the article that Benjamin wrote about Wong.
The exhibit is at the Mary Boone Gallery (745 Fifth Avenue, at 57th Street, Manhattan) and runs until June 27. -Liza
