The Summer Reading program at Brooklyn’s Central Public Library is starting with a pop this Thursday, June 4th with a free block partyfrom 10-4:30. The main event will be, get this, hip hop star Lil’ Mama reading to kids from 1030 to 11am. She’ll also be speaking about her connection to Brooklyn, encouraging kids to read and signing autographs. Throughout the day there will also be entertainment on the Plaza including the Ringling Brothers, a Capoiera demonstration, a ballet and local band performances. Not to mention the ongoing balloon animals, face painting and arts and crafts. Reading Rainbow was nice and all, but this event wins hands-down. -Celeste
