Mother Knows Best

by Web Intern

Got any plans for Mother’s Day? Take yourself, your mom, your friends, your kids, whoever, on a trip to Washington DC. There is a lot going on Saturday May 9th-Sunday May 10th that any peace-loving woman should be excited to get in on. CODEPINK, a ‘women-initiated grassroots peace and social justice movement working to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, stop new wars, and redirect our resources into healthcare, education, green jobs and other life-affirming activities’, is hosting a 24-hour vigil from May 9 to May 10 in Lafayette Park, across the street from the White House. They are holding their 2nd Mother’s Day vigil in honor of all mothers and women who live where war is happening. There’s also going to be a children’s fair, entertainment, a concert from Melissa Ivey, activist trainings, speakers from Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran, and much more to make Mother’s Day femtastic! The more the merrier; this Mother’s Day in DC promises to be big fun. Check out more info on attending the vigil here and help welcome our new administration by reminding Obama of his promises for peace.
