Stormy Daniels Provides Details About Her Alleged Affair With Trump
In a groundbreaking interview with CBS’ 60 Minutes, adult film star Stormy Daniels provides more information on her alleged affair with the president. The details range from funny (she says she spanked him with his own magazine) to horrifying: she claims that in 2011, a man who appeared to be working for Trump threatened to harm her infant daughter if she didn’t leave Trump alone. The Tampon Tax Is (Finally) On The Decline
Necessary health products like shampoo, deodorant, and Viagra (?!) are exempt from sales taxes in most states — but somehow, that doesn’t apply to tampons. This phenomenon, often called the “tampon tax,” has been a prime example of sexism for years — because we’re pretty damn sure that tampons are more “necessary” than Viagra. Now, mercifully, the tax is on the decline. Nine states have already eliminated the disparity, and seven more are pursuing legislation to do the same. Trump Remakes His Transgender Military Ban
After a federal judge ruled against Trump’s original transgender military ban this February, the administration released a (slightly) updated version that’s just as bad. The new rules? That only people who have been “stable in their biological sex prior to accession,” “do not require a change of gender,” or started serving under Obama’s policy are eligible to serve.
ACLU Senior Staff Attorney Joshua Block told CNN, “What the White House has released tonight is transphobia masquerading as policy. This policy is not based on an evaluation of new evidence. Oregon Reporter Wins Award For Uncovering Sexual Harassment
Last Thursday, Oregonian reporter Bethany Barnes won a national freedom of information award for uncovering sexual harassment in a local school district. After the school stonewalled her inquiries for months, Barnes wrote a 95-page appeal to the district attorney — and she won.
