Mama Mia!

Like puppets? How about the theater? See the two of them together in the ‘La Mama Puppet Series 3’ set to run from October 8 to November 29.

The annual series, which is supported by the Jim Henson Foundation and others, will open with the newest work by Theodora Skipitares. ‘The Traveling Players present The Women of Troy’ is a piece based on the text of Euripides and the words of the women incarcerated at Riker’s Island in New York. The second production, ‘A Quarreling Pair,’ includes three puppet (they’re itty bitty) plays that were inspired by avant-garde writer Jane Bowles. To wrap things up, Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ will be performed on three trays with three puppeteers and 22 eight-inch actors (this intrigues me!).

Please come out and support this wonderfully crafted series that includes works written, performed, and curated by women.
