If You Love Gilda Radner You Will Definitely Love This IndieGoGo Project

by Ada Guzman

A documentary is in the works on legendary comedian Gilda Radner, the first female cast member of Saturday Night Live and an inspiration to many.  “LOVE Gilda: The Legacy of Gilda Radner” is directed by filmmaker Lisa D’Apolito, who wanted to capture how Radner inspired thousands through both her humor and her determination to help those affected by cancer.

Radner’s comic genius was very much inspired by her vulnerability and honesty about her feelings, which is something she continued to share in her struggle with ovarian cancer—going public with it and cracking jokes at her own dispense. She was a brave woman with an amazing spirit who drew a lot of her humor from her personal struggle.

D’Apolito started a fundraising campaign for the film, which can only be finished if she receives enough money to meet her goal of $50,000. The project needs only a quarter of its goal for D’Apolito and her team to produce a short version of the documentary and release it on the anniversary of the first Gilda’s Club.

Brother Michael Radner gave a message of support in the documentary:

Close friend Judy Levy says of the actress: “If you met Gilda, and you spent a little bit of time with her, you left whatever situation it was—whether you were sitting next to her on an airplane, or checking out her groceries at the grocery store—and you felt like you were Gilda’s best friend.”

In honor of Radner’s fierce endurance and amazing spirit, here are 5 funny moments we absolutely adore:
