Here’s your new fave feminist pop band: OLD

by Holly Trantham

We’re really digging the new EP from Swedish trio OLD. We don’t know too much about OLD but they are fairly NEW and the band is comprised of 3 friends, Johanna Tham, Constance Holmbäck and, Nina Sigurd who started making music in their apartment in Malmö 2 years ago, recorded one EP and recently moved to a studio to record four new fun, feminist songs.

I’m a sucker for 3 part harmonies but coupled with lyrics like “hormones stole my sex life, give me my pleasure back,” we know we are not in normal “girl group” territory. The band mixes electronic beats and their lyrical stories remind me a bit of Cibo Matto or even 70s sisters, The Roches. Looking forward to hearing more from these gals. (The only critique I have of the last song is the short sax solo that appears mid way, but aside from that, this EP is perfect!)
