Afghan Hands is an inspiring organization in Afghanistan helping to give women an education and an opportunity. Their centers throughout Kabul pay women to take seminars on human, legal and religious rights in the morning and create beautiful embroidered accessories in the afternoon. They employ 50 master embroiderers and are able to sustain 200 women with the program. Not only do they gain financial independence, but this is their only chance for an education. The shawls and scarves they embroider are cashmere and wool and have gotten press everywhere from Elle to America’s Next Top Model. Donations are welcome, but why not wrap yourself in one of the elegant pieces they have to offer? -Celeste
