When I found out that Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn are starring in a movie together, all I could think was “oh my god dream team!” I can’t wait to see the film coming out next May. In the meantime, I’m digging this LA Times interview with Amy Schumer in which she reveals a few deets about the film currently being shot in Hawaii.
She talked in the interview about how she convinced the fabulous Goldie to come out of retirement after fifteen years.
“I met her on an airplane a couple of years ago and told her there’s a movie I really want to make with her. And she was very nice. ‘OK, honey.’ She probably thought I was a psycho. ‘OK, crazy person.’ Then I’d meet her at different things, saying, ‘We’re making this movie together,’ and I think, eventually, some people got in her ear and told her I wasn’t crazy, that I make things.”
The film, written by Schumer, her sister Kim Caramele, and Katie Dippold, is about a mother-daughter trip to South Africa taken by Schumer and Hawn’s characters. With the fierce comedy chops of these two ladies, I’m sure it’ll be a hoot!
In the interview, she also discussed the therapeutic experience of writing her upcoming book, the harassment she has faced on the internet, her home shopping network gun show sketch, and performing for Hillary Clinton.
