We know we say it every week, but DAMN—you add the Senate passing the BIG-oted Beautifully blasphemous bill and this week was cartoon-level villainy. It’s almost as if the people in power don’t actually give a single fuck about what happens to the rest of us.
Red, White, and FUCK YOU
That’s been the vibe here at AAF ever since the Senate voted to approve Trump’s Liberty Bell-cracking nightmare, one of the most cruel budgets we’ve ever seen. Massively unpopular, it is an unparalleled attack on historically-excluded communities including Black, Indigenous, immigrant, young, rural, disabled, and LGBTQIA+ people. And just look at the devastating hits to reproductive access:
Hot take: this bill was never meant to benefit Americans! On the week America celebrates a bit of well-known mischief we got up to in the face of a tyrant, your elected “patriots” gleefully voted away your rights while giving each other Yankee Doodle handies. They wrapped your rights around a firecracker, lit it, and watched them burn up into the sky to chants of “USA! USA!” It’s a national abortion ban, an immigration ban, and a “just die” plan starving us of both food and healthcare—which was always their end game.
Now we wait to see if the House will co-sign on this travesty. If you’re not furious, you’re not paying attention.
Whatever they throw at us, we’ll keep building community (and definitely not any compounds where we can all run away and live like forest witches in the coven of our dreams) and pushing back! So let’s push through the latest attacks on our rights, and then get to fighting back.
