Okay found it, could this be what we’ve have been waiting for?! Has anyone else imagined that this is what New York sounds like for a girl, a mostly confident, sometimes insecure, maybe nerdy, kinda hippie, wannabe punk, super sweetheart, no-nonsense kind of girl?!
The Prettiots will make you feel like you can have a perfectly crafted cutesy exterior, while secretly wanting to burn your frenemy’s house down. Too much?
I mean it’s kinda like being okay with having one of those days where you just know you won’t be getting out of bed until its dark again just to hang out in a cute babydoll nighty for hours and hours. Or maybe it’s like being okay with the fact that all you can think about doing is pressing your face against that babe on the train before taking them home to suck their blood.
Born and raised and New York based, the girly, indie, art-pop threesome are combining an adorableness that is reminiscent of sugary Sunday mornings with a totally shameless musical confidence.
In their most recent single release, a cover of the Misfits classic, “Skulls,” they’ve perfectly swapped the bass out and replaced it with their signature ukulele.
The Prettiots take the edgy and pretty violent tone of the original tune and soak it in romance, till it’s dripping candy coated diamonds. “I wanna turn you inside out. I wanna hang you on my wall” is given a totally different meaning when being sweetly sung by Kay Kasparhauser.
Give this new track a listen. And then give it another. These are some lovely young women to keep an eye on.
