With the premiere of the new song “Eden,” singer-songwriter Alexa Wilding is providing us with the melodic track we need to push through the day we thought was Friday but turns out is Thursday. “Eden” is the first single off Wolves, Alexa’s third album to be released on Tiny Prism Records, due out in September 2016. Co-produced with Tom Beaujour, the bones of the album were recorded live in just one day, with Tim Foljahn on lead guitar, Jeremy Wilms on bass and Brian Kantor on drums.
We can count on Wolves for earthy, hypnotic vibes. The new album includes six songs that feature Wilding revisiting past lovers and life ont he road befeore she became a mother of twins in 2013. Wilding wrote the album on a borrowed Casio piano in the hospital while her son was treated for cancer (successfully!).
“It was fight or flight,” Wilding says. “Instead of running away I retreated into song, to memory, making peace with the past so I could step up, ‘do like the wolves do,’ and fight for my family’s future.”
In honor of the single’s release (a remix by Au Revoir Simone’s Annie Hart is also forthcoming), a show and screening of the music video for “Eden” (directed by Rachel Fleit and featuring Sarah Sophie Flicker, Au Revoir Simone’s Erika Spring, singer Larkin Grimm and painter Caris Reid) has been announced for 7pm on April 29th at Rockwood Music Hall. Tickets are available for $10 here!
