Who’s too old for roller derby? Definitely not 53-year-old Beth Hollis of Akron, OH. Hollis is a soft-spoken librarian by day and a kick ass roller derby athlete at night. Not only does she destroy assumptions about size and sex, she also defies stereotypes about age.
After many years of working as a librarian, Hollis decided she needed a hobby. After getting kicked out of a knitting class for not catching on quick enough, she decided to try something more physical, and she found it. She is now Megabeth, a play on the word megadeath, and girlfriend has broken bones and knocked skulls while also keeping the Akron-Summit Public Library organized.
