Warning: Contents May Be Pro-Abortion

Another Friday, another blog chock full of all the news you need to get you through the end of summer! After today the repro baddies at Abortion AF are taking a couple of weeks off to refill our rage cups and come back BETTER THAN EVER the second week of September.

In the meantime: anti-choice choads continue to chunder their churlish Christo-fascism all over us. Yuck. But have no fear! We’ve got allll the ways you can fight back right here.

Fired For Doing Her Job; Now She’s Suing the DOJ

A former federal prosecutor, Sunita Doddamani, is SUING the DOJ for being FIRED in April for doing her damn job: prosecuting anti-abortion harassholes who blocked access to an abortion clinic under the FACE (Freedom of Access to CLINIC ENTRANCES) Act. The administration called FACE Act enforcement “weaponization,” Doddamani’s lawsuit calls the firing unlawful.

THIS IS WHY WE CAN’T HAVE NICE THINGS — like, I don’t know, walking into a gyno appointment without being showered with holy water by a virgin in a newsboy cap.

American Anti-Abortion Extremists Go Global

What happens when anti-abortion extremists try to turn an international law-enforcement network into a medication-abortion dragnet? Could they go after websites? Mail? Providers? And why are they reaching for an absurdly roundabout plan when what they really want is control?

We may not have to wait that long to find out.

Lizz and Moji get into all of that and more on today’s pod!

New Feminist Buzzkills Episode: Drops TODAY!

International abortion hellscapes are just the beginning! This week, your Buzzkills explore the fatberg of shitty reactions to Massachusetts expanding abortion access, plus a short trip to the land of magical anti-abortion thinking—a place where people (mostly white dudes) ask questions no one wanted answered, like: What if we decriminalized rape so people could get fewer abortions, since states only allow abortions in “exceptions” like rape?

We Got Guests!

What happens when an OB-GYN from the Beaver State gets an RV? Reproductive healthcare hits the road.

Portland’s Dr. Mary Fariba Afsari — board-certified OB-GYN and certified badass — is bringing care to rural Oregon and the Pacific Northwest with FemForward Health, her mobile clinic. She joins the Buzzkills to talk Massachusetts ditching its gestational abortion ban, healthcare reform, and her must-read memoir, Labor: One Woman’s Work.

PLUSSSSS! SOUND THE ALARM AND HOLD ONTO YOUR STRAP — the one and only PEACHES is back on the pod! The badass musician and artist returns to blab with the Buzzkills about her No Lube So Rude tour that benefits abortion access, rocking the fuck out of menopause, and taking her rage, joy, voting power, and sex-positive energy on tour at 60!

Now for Some Ways You Can Fight Back!

Now that we’ve given you the really good and the absolute shit news for the week, use that energy to get out in the community and do some good!

My favorite part of the year is working with our interns, and Anika’s talent and enthusiasm to make a difference reminded me exactly why. I can’t wait to see the impacts she makes in the future – I know they’ll be spectacular!
