Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Massachusetts Has Spoken: Let Doctors Do Their Damn Jobs
In a genuinely refreshing development from the part of America where lawmakers occasionally remember that patients are people, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey signed a new law strengthening abortion access later in pregnancy.
Finally, the Bay State has removed outdated reporting and facility requirements that created barriers to care, but most importantly, physicians are allowed to use their professional medical judgment as to when providing abortion care later in pregnancy is an appropriate course of treatment.
More of this please, because when any of us is dealing with a serious pregnancy complication or a devastating fetal diagnosis, we all should be able to make decisions with our medical provider – not a state legislator who thinks “ectopic pregnancy” is the name of a local screamo band.
El Bloombito Pours Out Some Of His Billions To Help Save Abortion In Missouri!
Oh look, a billionaire who isn’t dedicated to Handmaiding American women! Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg just donated $1.25 million to Missouri’s Stop the Ban campaign – a campaign to fight a November ballot measure that would repeal the reproductive freedom amendment Missouri voters approved in 2024 and reinstate a near-total abortion ban. Missouri extremists can’t stop won’t stop! The ink on the ballots in 2024 wasn’t even dry when they saw voters protect abortion rights and thought, “Wow, how dare Missourians take their wishes to the ballot box, WE decide what’s best for them!!!”
FOREVER REMINDER: Abortion bans are never truly “settled”, and having a billionaire Republican angel donor “protecting us” is not emancipation. It’s an 18 karat gold bandaid. We need to be in the fight all day everyday because they will keep coming back with new ballot measures, new scare tactics, and approximately eight thousand brochures with the phrase “Make Missouri Pro-Life Again” on them.
