Two Years In Prison For Getting An Abortion?
South Carolina just can’t get enough when it comes to evil schemes punishing abortion seekers. A handmaid’s bill has just advanced out of committee that makes their six week ban look like an inscription on Gloria Steinem’s vibrator. Not only does it uphold that ish, it just didn’t seem wicked enough if there wasn’t jail time and allowed exceptions for rape — you know, like if your husband pulls some rape academy shit, or your creepy uncle… well, you get the point. They wanted to make sure you know that you are not in control of yourself no matter what. The good-adjacent news is that the bill is so Marquis De Sade Carolina that it horrifies even some of the staunchest conservatives. The bad news is it doesn’t horrify EVERYONE.
Shove A 72 Year Old Clinic Escort, Win A Million Dollars
Meet Mark Houck: anti-abortion ghoul arrested in 2022 and charged with violating the FACE Act for allegedly assaulting a 72-year-old clinic escort, and now just awarded a $1.1 million dollar settlement because of it! After he was acquitted of the charges (even though we all have eyeballs and could see the assault on video but okay whatever), Houck then sued the Biden DOJ, claiming they went after him because Biden hates both Mark and Jesus… or something, who the fuck actually knows. If the acquittal doesn’t chap your ass, don’t worry, it actually gets worse; a judge dismissed his case against the government, but the Dr. Jesus DOJ decided ol’ Mark deserves OUR tax dollars anyway and awarded him that fat sack of cash!
A Pennsylvania Court Rules: Abortion Is A Constitutional Right!
FINALLY, some good news. Shout out to our pals at the Women’s Law Project, who fought and won a Pennsylvania case that ruled that the state’s constitution guarantees a right to abortion! The ruling also struck down a law that prevented state Medicaid funds from going toward abortions, because GOD FORBID low-income folks be allowed affordable reproductive autonomy. While the decision will likely be appealed by the attorney general, we will never be upset when we get to gloat about a pro-abortion judicial smackdown!
The only downside to this ruling is that it didn’t come down last week so we would have been more excited about paying our taxes.
