It’s officially our favorite time of the year: ABORTION PROVIDER APPRECIATION WEEK (APAW, if you will, because we refuse to be constrained to one day)! Abortion Provider Appreciation Day (APAD) was started in memory of Dr. David Gunn, who was murdered by an anti-abortion extremist in 1993.
As always, we choose to both honor the abortion providers who lost their lives and have been harmed by violent extremists, and the badass folks who continue to provide abortion care to anyone who needs it. The AAF crew has been out and about delivering meals, care packages, and a hefty amount of joy to them across the country… and we don’t plan on stopping there! Want to help us send out some joy in the world? Nab a few gift cards so they can treat themselves!

Abortion Getting the Red Carpet Treatment It Deserves
Hot damn — catch our abobo besties, Feminist Center for Reproductive Liberation, winning an Oscar this weekend for “The Devil is Busy,” a short film about their incredible work! These folks constantly deal with asshole protesters, a near-total abortion ban, and a plethora of other bullshit TRAP laws designed to shut them down, and we think it’s about damn the time the world sees even a fraction of what their day-to-day is like. While the documentary hasn’t won yet (the Academy Awards air this Sunday), we’re crossing everything we’ve got and sending out all the good vibes for Feminist Center getting their well-deserved flowers!
Hawley “Protecting” Women By Trying To Remove Their Rights. Again.
WHAT A SURPRISE — Missouri Sen. Josh Hawley introduced yet another bill about abortion pills, this time to remove FDA approval from mifepristone, and make it a federal crime to use it for abortions. Hawley begs the FDA to “follow this new data,” but conveniently fails to mention that the “data” is actually just sham anti-abortion pseudoscience lying about the safety of abortion pills, WHICH ARE INCREDIBLY SAFE (we’re gonna say it every time).
You have got to get over this, Josh; it’s becoming obsessive at this point. Stop trying to take away access to safe medicine and, idk, do something we actually want? Like give us free healthcare instead of taking away necessary healthcare? Is that so much to ask?
The Feminist Buzzkills Pod Is Continuing APAW With Some Amazing Guests!
Lizz and Moji are back and recapping the last few weeks we spent out on the road with Michael Shannon and Jason Narducy’s tour, and telling you about all the work we have been doing with local indie clinics at so many tour stops! And just when you’re feeling all warm and fuzzy, you’re going to meet some amazing abortion providers!
There Are So Many People To Celebrate It Was So Hard To Choose!
Lizz sets up the show with longtime AAF friend, David Gunn Jr., to talk about the impact of the loss of his father, the first abortion provider murdered and the inspiration for APAD. Moji also chatted with Dr. Victoria Williams, Advocacy Lead at Birthmark Doula Collective in Louisiana, about the work she’s doing to sue the state for classifying abortion pills as a Class C Controlled Substance!

Truthfully, we’re a little worried you will learn and enjoy this conversation too much… our brains may not even be able to handle this level of badassery.
