You made it to Friday—congrats on not getting raptured! To be honest, all that rapture talk got us pretty excited thinking about all of the protestor-free sidewalks that would have been outside abortion clinics, but we’re used to disappointment, ya know? Alas, we still persist, and so does the news cycle none of us can escape. Soooo let’s hunker down in a comfy cardigan, and get through some of the lowlights of the week.
Pro-Life Democrats Are NEVER the Answer
Ezra Klein has yet again brought us some next level bullshit take. This week he declared that: Dems need to fight fascism by running pro-life Democrats.That’s right—apparently the party that the abortion movement has had to forcefully drag forward, kicking and screaming, should be more welcoming to people who want to deny pregnant folks their bodily autonomy. We don’t know how many times we have to say this, but ABORTION IS A WINNING ISSUE. And to ice the Ezra shit cake, he name-checks Ohio, Kansas, and Missouri as states who should be doing this—ALL THREE of which voted both to pass pro-choice amendments AND voted for Trump in the last few years. There are a plethora of ways to fight fascism that don’t involve Ezra Klein’s entitlement to grab OUR rights and offer them up as a compromise. Ezra, GFY.
Someone Needs to Put Texas in Time Out
Texas has passed yet another bounty hunter law targeting abortion, HB7, which lets anyone sue a doctor, nonprofit, or abortion fund for helping someone get pills from another state.
A successful lawsuit can net a grifter snitch anywhere from $10,000 to $100,000, because criminalizing care and baiting folks into cashing in on fear rather than letting people get the healthcare they NEED is exactly how Texas operates.
Spoiler alert: abortion funds and access groups have no plans to stop doing what they do best: showing up and serving their communities. They aren’t going anywhere as long as we keep giving them our support and our coin, because care is not a crime—it’s a lifeline!

Hell, most Americans don’t even know who the people are defending their country, never mind the roles women play in that.
